Description
Most Timber jack skidders are equipped with a Detroit Diesel engine of the 53 series. Servicing of this engine is handled by their closest representative therefore no effort will be made to cover maintenance other than the routine checks which should be service and maintenance other than the routine checks which should be service and made.
Fuel System
Fuel for the Detroit Diesel engine should be good quality #1 or #2 diesel fuel depending on climate.
Make sure good quality, clean, fuel is always used. This will avoid unnecessary downtime through plugged filters, damaged injectors etc. There is a a primary and secondary filter installed in the fuel system to any foreign particles. These filters should be drained daily to be move any water which may have accumulated. These filters should be drained daily to remove any water which may have accumulated. These filters should also be replaced at regular intervals as outlines on the maintenance schedule found in the vehicle operators manual.
The engine R.P.M. is set up by Detroit Diesel and rechecked by Eaton Yale Ltd. before leaving the factory, therefore no adjustment should be necessary.
