Proper service and repair are extremely important for safe machine operation. The service and repair techniques recommended by Komatsu and described in this manual are both effective and safe. Some of these techniques require the use of tools specially designed by Komatsu for the specific purpose.
FAILURE CODE [879BKA] A/C Fresh Air Temperature Sensor Open Circuit
Details of
failure
Air conditioner controller detects open circuit in outside air temperature sensor.
Action of
controller
Air conditioner controller transmits open circuit information of outside air temperature sensor to machine monitor by CAN communication.
Ignores data of outside air temperature sensor and continues control of air conditioner in automatic air conditioner mode.
Phenomenon
on machine
Since air conditioner outside air temperature sensor has open circuit, outside air temperature is not considered in automatic air conditioner mode.
(Air conditioner is not affected in manual mode.)

• After repairing, check if the failure code is cleared by the following procedure.
Procedure: Turn starting switch to ON position.
• Check if this failure code is displayed on electrical system failure record screen in service
mode of machine monitor.
• For each connector, see "Installation locations of air conditioner parts and arrangement of
connectors".
• Since air conditioner controller connector ACECU has no T-adapter and has small pins,
perform troubleshooting by using intermediate connector (although intermediate connector
has no T-adapter either, it has large pins).
• When replacing air conditioner harness between air conditioner controller connector ACECU
and intermediate connector, replace air conditioner unit.
