The most important maintenance operations are those related to safety. The points that have special significance from the safety point-of-view are indicated with a A mark in this manual.
The parking (emergency) brake unit is a hydraulic control spring-applied disk type bake. It is installed on the front differential carrier. When cylinder hydraulic pressure is released, springs inside the cylinder pull the brake arm, applying the parking brake.
The spring applied feature provides a "fail-safe" system. If either electrical power or hydraulic power fail the springs apply the brake.
