Manual Extract: Air Intake System Service
The complete air intake system must be cleaned when it becomes dirty or contaminated. This includes the air cleaner body and all hoses. If the dirt is heavy with oil or soot, put the parts in a solution of Case Filter Element Cleaner, part number A4091 O and water. Mix 57 grams (two ounces) of cleaner to 3.8 liter (one gallon) of water at a temperature of 38 ° to 66 ° C (1 00 ° to 1 50 ° F).
NOTE: If the dirt is very heavy, use a solution of Oakite 202 with 50% water.
Put the air intake system parts in the solution for 30 minutes, then turn the parts in the solution for approximately two minutes. Wash the parts in clean water until the water used is clear, then dry completely.
Check all hoses and parts for cracks or wear. Replace if needed. Check for leaks in the air intake system including the air cleaner safety element.
IMPORT ANT: When you replace the air cleaner system hoses, make sure to install the hoses air tight or damage to the engine will result in a· short time.
