Manual Extract: INSPECTION OF PLANETARY PARTS
1. Clean all parts in cleaning solvent.
2. Inspect the bearing cup and the rollers in the wheel bearings for flat areas, pitting, scoring, and other damage. Also check the inner race for damage. If any of these defects are found, a new wheel bearing and bearing cup must be installed.
3. Inspect the pinion shafts for wear and damage.
4. Inspect the teeth of the pinion gears, the sun gear, and the ring gear for wear, pitting, scoring and other damage.
Use new parts as required.
5. Inspect the needles for the pinion gears for flat areas, pitting, scoring and other damage. If any of these defects are found, also inspect the bore of the pinion gears and use new parts as required.
6. Inspect the splines on the axle shaft and sun gear for wear and damage.
