Hydraulic systems – Dynamic description
The tractor is fitted with oil immersed brakes located in each rear axle trumpet housing.
The brakes are operated by two pedals which can be operated locked together or individually for field operation.
The pedals operate two master cylinders which supply oil through connecting pipe (2) to the two slave cylinders mounted on the axle housings. The slave cylinder actuator rod (3) is connected to expanding brake caliper (4).
The brake caliper (4) has internal tapered grooves with balls (5) between each half allowing the caliper to expand as the actuator rod is pulled. Brake discs (6) are mounted on the internal splines of the axle shaft (7).
When Brake pedals are pressed, pressurized oil is supplied to brake slave cylinder (1) through pipe (2).
The slave cylinder piston moves forward pulling the actuator rod which make the caliper (4) expand which presses the brake discs (6) against the transmission case and brake housing and so applying braking effect to the axle shaft (7).
