Manual Extract: Pump Efficiency Test
The pump efficiency test measures the hydraulic pump flow output under load, to determine if the pump is excessively worn or damaged. Perform the pump efficiency test only after the inlet restriction test has been completed. A hydraulic flow meter is required to perform the pump efficiency test.
NOTE: The pump efficiency test can be performed at either the mid mount two spool valve or the optional rear remote valve female quick couplers.
1. Start the tractor engine and operate the hydraulic system to warm the hydraulic fluid to normal operating temperature.
2. Connect the flow meter hoses to the valve outlet connectors, making sure meter hoses are connected on
the same valve circuit. (A) output and (B) return.
3. Operate the tractor at 2600 RPM – Farmall 30 B or 2700 RPM – Farmall 35 B rated RPM. Actuate the valve for the proper flow. Observe the flow meter reading, the no load reading should be approximately 31.2 l/min (8.2 US gpm) – Farmall 30 B or 32.4 l/min (8.6 US gpm) – Farmall 35 B .
4. Tighten the flow restrictor valve (1) on the flow meter until the pressure is 13100 – 13790 kPa (1900 – 2000 psi).
5. Observe the flow meter reading, the results should be 80% of the no-load flow rating 25 l/min (6.6 US gpm) – Farmall 30 B or 26 l/min (6.9 US gpm) – Farmall 35 B . If the testing shows the hydraulic pump output is low, the pump requires replacement.
