Manual Extract: Valve drive and gears – Check
1. Disassemble the top engine assembly, refer to Engine and crankcase – Disassemble — Top Engine (10.001).
2. Disassemble the bottom engine assembly, refer to Engine and crankcase – Disassemble — Bottom Engine (10.001).
3. Check the intermediate gear for damage to its teeth 4. Replace the gear along with the bush bearing if it is damaged
5. Inspect intermediate gear bush internal diameter at two places and at right angles in pressed condition 6. If diameter exceeds the recommended limits replace the bush
7. Inspect the gear support journal diameter for wear with micrometer at two planes and at right angles 1
8. Replace gear support if it is damaged 9. Replace the washers
10. Replace the fasteners if it is damaged
