To determine the required shims for the proper gear shift rod adjustment you must follow these procedures in order; the rear engagement bushing shim measurement, the front engagement bushing shim measurement, the piston bolt shim measurement, and the measurement in the neutral position.\u003cbr\u003eNOTE: The following procedure shows the gear shift rail adjustment for the 3rd\/4th gear shift rod. The procedure is the same for the 1st\/2nd gear shift rail except you would use preload measure tool 380003427 instead of 380003426 and preform the procedure on the 1st\/2nd gear shift rail.\u003cbr\u003e1. From the rear-side of the transmission, install the mounting shims driver tool 380003422 (1) on the 3rd\/4th (3\/4) gear shift rod.\u003cbr\u003e2. On the front-side of the transmission, install the application load handle tool 380003425 onto the 3rd\/4th gear shift rod.\u003cbr\u003e3. Pull on the load handle tool 380003425 in order to apply a load of about 2 kg (4.5 lb) (gear engagement position).\u003cbr\u003e4. Measure and document the calibrated length of preload measure tool 380003426 as dimension value (A).
