Inspect the large gear and the small gear for wear and damage. If the teeth on a gear have scoring, excessive wear, or sharp edges, use a new gear.\u003cbr\u003eCheck for damage to the lugs on the large gear. If there is damage, check the hub on the torque converter for similar damage. Replace the large gear and the torque converter as necessary.\u003cbr\u003e2. Inspect the gear pockets in the pump housing for wear or damage. If the gear pockets have scoring or excessive wear, use a new oil pump.\u003cbr\u003e3.
